The Horseman’s Store is a western clothing retail business and provides safety clothing and industrial footwear to local industries. They specialize in safety wear standalone stores and offer onsite mobile shoe service. Multiple stores are located from Gonzales, LA, to Houston, TX. CS Companies Gulf Coast has provided years of staffing to The Horseman’s Store, due their growth in 2017, an opportunity was presented for CS Companies Gulf Coast to offer additional PEO services.

The Challenge

The Horseman’s Store was growing their business in Texas and Louisiana, approaching more than 50 employees, meaning health insurance would be required for all employees according to ACA (Affordable Care Act). The company was handling payroll internally. ACA healthcare was not yet established but was going to be required. They were looking at having to hire and train additional corporate personnel.

Business growth also meant corporate resources would be required for increased payroll in the two states. Also, some senior accounting personnel were retiring or nearing retirement, creating concern regarding accounting personnel transition and increased payroll.

If the company used resources to implement ACA and replace retiring accounting personnel for payroll, its growth would be significantly hindered.
